WHY I’M RUNNING FOR MAKE-A-WISH

When I decided to use running as a way to raise money, I wanted the miles to support organizations whose work has a tangible impact on people’s lives.

Make-A-Wish does exactly that — creating extraordinary experiences for children facing critical illnesses and giving families something powerful to look forward to during incredibly difficult circumstances.

Running the New York City Marathon is a huge personal challenge for me. But the opportunity to turn that challenge into something useful is what makes taking on 26.2 miles mean more than simply reaching another finish line.

I’m incredibly proud to be running New York as part of Team Make-A-Wish, and I’m asking the community of friends, colleagues, collaborators and supporters I’ve been fortunate enough to build over the years to help me reach my $10,000 fundraising goal.

I’LL PUT IN THE MILES.
YOU CAN HELP MAKE THEM MATTER BEYOND RACE DAY.

Running 26.2 miles is my part of the challenge. Reaching $10,000 is the part I can’t do alone.

Every donation — whatever the amount — moves the campaign closer to its goal and helps support the work of Make-A-Wish Metro New York.

If you’re able to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful to have you as part of the journey to November 1.

TRAINING FOR NYC

THE ROAD TO NOVEMBER 1

Marathon day may be the destination, but the real work happens in the months before it —
one run, one long weekend and one training block at a time.

Training for New York means building the endurance to cover 26.2 miles through all five boroughs while learning how to manage pace, fueling, recovery and everything that comes with a marathon build.

I’m documenting the process honestly — the runs that click, the ones that don’t, the long-run milestones, the travel miles and the gradual work of getting stronger.

The goal is simple: arrive at the Verrazzano on November 1 prepared to run the best race I can — and make every mile along the way count for Make-A-Wish.

    August 9, 2026
10.75mi long run completed @ 9:02/mi pace. Approximately 1.25 miles longer than planned. Cadence/mechanics work seems to be working as “easy run” pace increasing dramatically with no more effort.

    August 8, 2026
Fundraising page for NYC now working, and first donation received!

  • NEXT UP
Currently building mileage through increasingly long runs, with long runs reaching 17 miles by September 13, 2026.
