WHY BROADWAY CARES

Broadway has been part of my professional life for decades — not just as a place where I work, but as a community of artists, musicians, technicians, creatives and colleagues who have shaped so much of my life.

Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS turns the strength of that community into practical help for people across the country, supporting essential services including health care, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency assistance.

Running the Fifth Avenue Mile for Broadway Cares feels especially personal: one mile through New York, in support of the community that has given me so much.

ONE MILE.
ONE COMMUNITY.
A CHANCE TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK.

LET’S GET THERE TOGETHER.

Running one mile is my part of the challenge. Reaching $2,000 is the part I can’t do alone.

Every donation — whatever the amount — moves the campaign closer to its goal and helps support the work of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.

If you’re able to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful to have you as part of the journey down Fifth Avenue.

THE RACE

ONE MILE. BIG IMPACT.

One straight shot down Fifth Avenue.
One mile to race hard.
One opportunity to make it mean more.

The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile is completely different from the marathon challenge. There’s no settling into a rhythm, no long build and no saving something for later. It’s one mile through the heart of New York — fast, focused and over almost as soon as it begins.

But that single mile has its own kind of intensity. From the starting line, the challenge is to commit, stay present and give everything the distance allows. Every second matters, every decision happens quickly and there’s nowhere to hide.

That makes the 5th Avenue mile a perfect counterpoint to the longer Ethan Runs for Good journey. The distance may be shorter, but the purpose is every bit as meaningful: using one unforgettable mile down Fifth Avenue to help raise $2,000 for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS and support a community that has been such an important part of my life.
